$10 boots and $8 Mary Janes
Why I Started This Blog
I decided to start a blog to document the challenges and triumphs of staying stylish while sporting a bump. Being pregnant, women are expected to look plain and dull. I went to visit my Grandmother one day wearing a short dress and her reaction said it all. She looked at me with a surprise look and said, "You're pregnant, pregnant people are not suppose to look sexy!" Well grandma I beg to differ! The problem is the fashion worlds seems to agree with grandma. Very few really understand and offer solutions.
The explosion of pregnant celebrities proudly sporting a bump such as Angelina Jolie, Jessica Alba and Halle Berry just to name a few, created a new trend in fashion. It paved the way for pregnant moms to look yummy as they can be. The problem is, how do you get the look without breaking the bank. These women can look glamorous because they could afford to. If you go to a specialty store that offers maternity clothing, you'd have to pay a premium.
This is the challenge that I am more than willing to tackle. So I say, bring it on Grandma!

Bow Crazy!!!
A few minutes of online shopping on etsy.com and a few tutorial videos on youtube, this is what I came up with. LOL! I grabbed every different style and sizes of ribbons I can find from a nearby Dollarama and started working with my glue gun. These are clip ons so they can be used on headbands, on dresses or as is. I made them as clip ons just in case my daughter comes out with no hair. Oh gosh! You must think I'm crazy.
The Etsy Challenge....
One of my most favourite online shops is etsy.com. They have a lot of cool stuff especially for children that you would rarely see in regular stores. Lately, I have been obsessing with the pillowcase dress and headbands with giant bows on them for my daughter and the oh so cool tie shirt for my boy. So much so that it inspired me to try to create them. So I dusted my sewing machine and I started working. Here are the pictures of the inspiration:
Success!!!
So after a long search for the perfect dress to wear for my sister in law's wedding, I finally found one! It's from BCBG and it was on sale for $69. I was originally looking for a long dress but since it's a summer wedding and I have yet to have cankles (knock on wood!) so I opted for above the knee length instead. And it's too good of a deal that I can't pass on it. It has the sweetheart necline which I love as it helps show off the biggest assets I have acquired since getting pregnant. LOL! Also the sweeping pleats gives it a softer look and it accentuates my bump beautifully. I bought it two weeks ago which was the 24th week of my pregnancy. It has an opening at the back which allows for more growth room. I'm normally a size 4 and with this dress I bought a size 14. This is deifinitely a dress that my grandma would truly be proud of. I can't wait to see the reaction on her face!

Elegant Baby Shower Invitations
My BFF was sweet enough to organize my baby shower which is going to be next month. She's been amazing through the years as she's always been there for me. To help out, I volunteered to be in charge of the invites. Anyone that knows me, knows my love affair with chocolate brown. So it comes as no surprise that I would want a chocolate themed party. I love the color because it's very gender neutral and very elegant. I'm having twin boy and a girl so it's perfect! I'm not really big on the blue for boy and pink for girl theme. So what I did is I went to Michael's to see if they have baby shower invites and OMG! The stuff that they have for baby shower are things that you could even get at a dollar store. So I went scouring through the wedding invitations section and found these do-it-yourself invitations. Lucky they were 50% off so I got a set of 50 for $35 which is not bad. They turned out really well. What I did was I put a drawing of a crib at the top that acts like a logo. Also I've included my husband's name as I wanted it as a coed event. Here are the invites:

The First Challenge
My sister-in-law is getting married next month and I am in search of the perfect dress. This has been a really tough challenge as I am only on my 5th month of my pregnancy. If I buy it now, it may not fit me later on. If I shop later, I may not have enough time nor energy to find the perfect dress. Here are the styles that I'm loving so far but having a tough time finding something similar within my budget:
